On a lovely warm and sunny Spring day, what could be better than staying outside with Ray!
Teaching him the basic principles of checkers was however a total waste of time. He just gave me his “Yay… that sounds like fun (not!)” look and soon found more interesting things to occupy his mind (via his nose)!
Hi Ray. When you figure out what “checkers” is and if it involves food, please let me know. Your friend, Lexi.

Hi Buddy – I think it could involve food…. perhaps even CHICKEN! I know you like that, so you’ll be the first to know if this can be done! Woof! Ray.

Ray strikes me as more of a chess kind of dog. It requires more thinking and we all know Ray is a big-time thinker! 😉

You’re probably right, as he always seems to have his own agenda. 🙂

And the strategy to execute it. [smirk]

Yes… I would suggest that his “batting average” is pretty good!

He acted like he didn’t want to play for he didn’t want to beat you. He has a big heart and didn’t want to make you feel bad 🙂 He definitely posed nice for the picture tho!

Yeh that was it… didn’t want to embarrass me! 🙂

That photo made my day. Very cute and very funny. Ray knows best. I bet you and Carol got a real work out getting him to stay and pose. I can well imagine the scene. 🙂

So glad you liked it Yvonne. He was not THAT difficult to pose. Just needed some treats strategically available (I had them)! 🙂

I’m glad the treats worked. It really is a good photo and should be in your book if, that were possible.

Unfortunately, the book is totally committed now … no changes! Given that the book covers my first 18 months with Ray, and depending on how it sells and how time consuming the promotion/marketing aspects are (not)… there could be a second book. 🙂

Check, Mate. You can be the biscuits and Ray will be the chews. Winner eats all!

With his view of the world; his reflexes and mouth size… it would be unfair! 🙂

Thx Pheobe. He plays along with our ideas very well. A little condescending perhaps… but still very well.

That’s unfortunate, Ray. Checkers sound delicious. I bet they taste like chicken!
Love and licks,

Hi Cupcake. You may be right but there was no signs of any special food coming. I just got little treats for sitting still for a few seconds while they played with the camera thing. Woof! Ray.

At least he let you (or someone else) get the picture!

The photographer was Carol, and she had to take a lot (thank goodness for digital photography!) because he kept moving and wanting to explore the grass and shrubs nearby!

Oh, wonderful. Maybe you should try cards. I think he would get on well with edible poker chips. Is that Ray’s poker face ?

Edible anything would certainly work and, as for his poker face? No…. that face is his ridicule face. 🙂
