An Adventure!

Carol took Ray and I on an adventure for my birthday!

One of her nieces recommended a small town named Alton because, apparently, it was a lovely little town in a very rural part of Ontario. Carol did a little research on it and decided that, for two rather obscure reasons, she would take us there. For Ray’s convenience (he is just so spoiled), we agreed that she would drive my RAV4 because Ray is very comfortable in it, and I would just sit in the passenger seat and wonder where we were going!

After a little over an hour drive, we arrived and saw the first reason that we were there!

R3 – Ray’s 3rd Generation Bistro Bakery! They had a lovely outdoor patio around the back and under trees…. and welcomed dogs! Ray was his normal “Mr. Chill” and drew attention to himself as usual and, of course, with the name Ray… he could do no wrong there!

We had a lovely meal, and then walked over to the second reason for the visit. Alton has an old water mill which was retired from service many years ago. The inside was converted into 3 floors of art galleries displaying paintings, sculptures, glass work etc., and it would appear that each artist had their own little area. It was one of these exhibit areas that caught Carol’s attention:

The “Noodle Gallery”! She thought that Ray would like that given his friend Noodle (noodle4president blog). In all honesty, Ray was not over excited about the exhibits, but he did cooperate very well. He was far more excited however when we took him outside to explore the area.

Soon it was time to head for home as I had a dinner date (courtesy of Carol), and Ray had his favorite humane society trainer coming to keep him company!

A good day was had by all!

  2. What a wonderful day planned by Carol. So glad to see you venturing out with the family. Carol must be doing better if she is able to drive. This was truly a special day for all of you.

  3. What a wonderful day full of surprises. But, whose birthday were you celebrating, yours or Ray’s, he, he. Seriously, Carol was very considerate in taking Ray’s needs into consideration, a day to be enjoyed by all. 🙂
