A new book!

Many of you will know that I have been contemplating publishing a book of poetic verse for some time now. Well, the decision has been made, and it is now going through “the process”! Below is my idea of what the front cover should look like. Whether the publishing company will agree with me remains to be seen, but all/any feed back would be welcomed!

All proceeds from sales will be directed to my daughter, Melanie-Anne Chappell. She was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2007 and was given a five-year life expectancy of 50/50.

Here we are in 2017 and she is still fighting however, the treatment programs have taken their toll and she is unable to hold down a paying job for a variety of reasons. She is currently being financially assisted by the Canadian Federal Government, Canadian Cancer Agency and Hollyburn Family Services but, as is usual in these cases, it dictates an extremely basic life style.

She uses her time to volunteer for non-profit organizations that are generally involved in giving some dignity to the women who are living on the street in Vancouver’s downtown East-side, and is also doing a befriending/preliminary assessment function (for a counseling service) of individuals who are having difficulties coping with their particular circumstances.

As soon as a book launch date is available, you will all be the first to know! 🙂

  1. I love that you are doing this for your daughter. You might put something about that on the very bottom of the cover. I think the cover is beautiful, especially when I imagine picking it up in a bookstore. If you sell it on Amazon, I think you just get a thumbnail sized picture and the subtitle could be hard to read. I really like the font you’ve used for the main title. Best wishes!

  2. So very glad that you are getting it published! I like the “little” description 🙂 and I think your picture makes a great cover. I always have liked scenes with water in them… peaceful.
You tugged my heartstrings reading about how the book’s proceeds will go to Melanie. ❤ that girl! Always in my prayers.
    I want a signed copy please 🙂

  3. Maybe it’s just my computer, but the picture is really dark. Not necessarily a bad thing – it may be what you want – but I have trouble seeing what it is.

Otherwise, I’ll be buying a copy when it comes out (perhaps I’ll read it faster than Ray’s book!).
