Ray, like most other dogs (I am assuming!) is extremely routine driven. As long as things happen at the same time every day, and in the same sequence, then all is well in his world. Change the sequence and he is a little perturbed and tries to resolve things in his own way. Delay an event and he will soon be nudging whoever he sees as the person responsible.
After our dinner, it is our routine to watch TV (e.g. Big Bang Theory) for a while. Within an hour or so of eating, it is not unusual for one of us (some times both of us) to doze off while on the sofa. Ray knows this routine very well and curls up in “his” (?) chair and watches us.
The other evening, Carol was on her iPad when she suddenly looked up… and saw this!
A quick click on the iPad and here we have a study of Ray getting a head start on the doze routine!
He looks blissfully relaxed! 🙂 Even I want to nap now.

Routine is important to Storm as well.

The more I think about it, the more I realise that routines are also important to me. Intuitive, or habit formed from working to a schedule? Who knows! 🙂

Routine is customary when it comes to dogs. It’s as if they are married to it and it helps when planning. 🙂

Sounds a bit like people. I wonder who came up with it first? 🙂

Nice chair Ray’s got there. While Lexi loved routine, she was the most flexible dog (routine-wise) I ever had, especially if there was something in it for her. She campaigned every night to get her dinner earlier.

Hmmmm… I am not sure what I would prefer, a dog that has flexibility (Lexi) or a dog that keeps me on track (Ray)! 🙂

She was flexible if there was something interesting going on. But she always kept us on track (or early) for her meals!

A good question! We have seen tail wags; roll-over for tummy rubs; running on the spot; growling and moaning… in his sleep. When that pic was taken, he was so quiet… not even snoring (which he does regularly)! 🙂

A study in relaxation a la Ray. Lovely. 🐕

Given his history, it is so heartwarming to see him relaxed like that. 🙂

Aw so cute. Guess he’s tuckered 🙂

Based on his body language, he is always tuckered… or hungry! 🙂

Haha. In my experience that’s pretty much the truth about what dogs want to do. Add go for walks/runs and cuddle and you’ve pretty much got them covered 🙂

Reminds me of my old cat Jake who seemed to be part of the upholstery no matter where he slept. Ray is so photogenic even half asleep.

It’s amazing how they can become part of any piece of furniture, or any stretch of carpet (especially in doorways), or on the floor next to food cupboards! 🙂

He fits in pretty much anywhere he chooses to chill… including stretching out and filling our two-seater sofa! He certainly makes himself at home at every opportunity. It’s as if all the furniture was tailored made for him! 🙂
