Unbridled Poetry?

I was recently contacted by a fellow blogger Jacqueline Oby-Ikoch with a suggestion that we promote each others books. She, and other Indie authors, appreciates that the most difficult part of producing a book is the marketing. Writing a book is challenging, and editing it ready for publishing is even more  challenging… but nobody will ever buy a book that they do not know exists! Marketing can be very expensive, or simply persistent work on the part of the author, so an opportunity to present to a different Blogging “audience” is welcomed. The following link goes to an introduction to my “Just Thinking” book which was recently featured on  Jacqueline’s Blog –

Just Thinking: By Colin Chappell – Author Zone

Now allow me to introduce Jacqueline Oby-Ikoch’s book “Unbridled” with the text provided to me by Jacqueline.

Unbridled, the second poetry collection by Jacqueline Oby-Ikocha was released on 3rd August 2017.

Unbridled is written for souls hurting, for healing and becoming. It is served to be well-thumbed and mulled over.  Written in free verse each poignant poetry vibrates with a life of its own.

Bold and uncensored verses that talk about societal issues of rape, domestic violence, sadness, infidelity, racial discrimination, sex, depression, loss, pain, femininity, grief, suicide, womanhood, relationships, love, resilience, courage, anger, mental health, pedophilia, child abuse, break up, conflict, loneliness, ageing, life, lust, optimism, Poverty, Race, Death, Justice, Beauty, Endurance, Faith, Dreams and Empowerment.

The author’s words epitomize the poetic impulse to capture concentrated images from experience and observing life’s moments; impassioned, ecstatic, sad, fiery, sensual; they are naked intimate expressions saying as much as they can say in few words.

Blurbs from friends for Unbridled:

‘Unbridled is a collection of bold poems. The author speaks of societal issues without niceties. The soul of each poetry tugs at the depth of your being and the writing style makes it easy to identify with the emotions of the character in each poem. If you are looking for the unspoken truth that society would rather brush under the carpet, I recommend you read Unbridled.’ – Ekaete Augustine-Edet

Jacqueline Oby-Ikocha is a gifted word weaver whose poems are snapshot vignettes of life to which readers can relate. Her story poems transverse a range of emotions that provokes profound thoughts and evokes dreams and deep desires of the heart.  Deborah Palmer

Two of the reviews for Out of the Silent Breath

A Collection of Beautifully Crafted Mournful and Joyful Poems By KhayaR

The collection opens with a joyous dance; encouraging the African child to dance to the beat born within. Then Jacqueline goes deep as the book progresses, reliving loss and pain. In one of the piercing poems, ” A Thousand Deaths”, she paints a vivid image that quietly rips the heart open. And yet, she manages to put a smile back on the reader’s face with a graceful and lovely depiction of the ageing process in, “Forever Young”.
In all, this is a beautifully crafted collection that touches on universal themes readers can relate to.

Excellent Thought-Provoking Poems By Nena

The writings are so intriguing you could read the entire book in one seating. I’m a long time Maya Angelou fan and Jacqueline’s poems are reminiscent of Angelou’s unique flare. I highly recommend this delightful book of poems if you desire to escape from reality, reflect on precious memories, and come in touch with raw human emotions.
