I cannot imagine what Bonnie Tyler must have run into as she pursued a career in singing. No doubt there were many negative influences as a result of her vocal tones, but she persevered and “Totally Eclipse of the Heart” is probably one of her most well known recordings.
She also “appeared” as a guest on Mike Oldfield’s album “Islands”. I love Mike Oldfield’s various albums, but suddenly hearing Bonnie Tyler singing the title track on “Islands” was an unexpected, and added, bonus! Enjoy!
One of those songs you’re inspired to belt out at the top of your lungs while driving. Always loved this one.πΆ

Mike Oldfield is another favorite of mine, particularly his “Ommadawn” album. Your choice of this Bonnie Tyler recording on his album “Islands” is a bonus indeed. Thank-you for sharing more of your music.

Oh I love Ommadawn, and can create a while story to fit that music! “Music of the Spheres” also has some lovely tracks.

Do you have “Return to Ommadawm”? I believe that it was released this January. It is a must have for me, but I’m undecided as to the new vinyl or the usual CD.

No I don’t… I hadn’t heard about it! I would suggest the CD because it can then easily be transferred to another portable device.

Thinking of Bonnie Tyler brings back memories of when I was in High School. π I remember listening to her song, Total Eclipse of the Heart so many times! I hadn’t heard this song before, but it is another very good one by her. Thanks for sharing it.

Sometimes it is really interesting to explore beyond the songs that they were well known for… and who knows what gems can be found!

I liked this song from the moment it was published. Bonnie Tyler must have had a beautiful voice. She worked hard for her career but that was what caused her nodules on her vocal cords. But that was actually what made her a star!

Hi Erika. It’s rather ironic how ones life develops sometimes isn’t it! π

It is an example that nothing happens accidentally but for a purpose. We might not know or understand why things happen when they happen but we only need to trust that they happen for a reason!!

She sings with a touch of sandpaper!

Yes she does…. I would suggest perhaps a 120 grit (grade) voice? Smooth enough to convey sensitivity, and abrasive enough to command attention. π

I think that is what Janis Joplin did with her gravely voice. Enough for interest but certainly not smooth. Edgy. (She is much smoother than Janis though.)

Then there is Rod Stewart and Kim Carnes! π

Great song. I like this version. Mind you, Bonnie Tyler was born in …1951. ππΆπΈ

…….. a youngster (by a few years!). It is interesting that having had so many “baby boomers” singers/musicians in my life, that I have trouble accepting that they are now in their 60’s/70’s! I have no problem accepting my age but, for some reason, they are not expected to age! π
