“O Holy Night”

As my last Post before Christmas, I would like to acknowledge everybody who “does something” with no expectation of a reward! That includes all the volunteers in various fields, both those who give their time as well as those who give their professional skills; those who give what little financial support they can, and those who are both able and willing to make significant contributions.

I must also include all you guys here who are so supportive of one another through varying challenges because, by Posting, you are always sharing a little bit about yourselves. The more we can learn about each other, the more we will realize that we are really not much different from one another.

Sadly, being abandoned by another; being totally misled; being taken advantage of; being depressed; dealing with challenging health issues…. and so many other events that put us in a state of emotional confusion, are not uncommon in our species.  There is always some comfort in knowing that we are not alone in our experiences, but sometimes it takes another to convince us.

To all of you, have a wonderful time over this holiday period, and may you all have an awesomely rewarding new year in your personal life. Let us keep sharing our thoughts; our successes, and our failures, with the goal of making another person’s life more hopeful than it may seem at the time.  We really do have so much in common. The details may vary, but we are all challenged throughout our life in various ways.

We should celebrate our ability to offer compassion and understanding, and accept that color of skin, cultural background, country of birth and spiritual beliefs are totally irrelevant. It does not matter who we are, we are all confronted occasionally with stressful and perhaps demoralizing  circumstances but then…. we can only become immune to life’s challenges at death.

Please enjoy the song below (It’s one of my favorites) and allow your mind to drift around the benefits of universal acceptance of each other. Universal peace is a long way away, but we can each do our bit to bring it a little closer.

  3. Beautiful version of a beautiful song and a beautiful Christmas post. I will share these words of Dr. Jane Goodall : “I like to envision the whole world as a jigsaw puzzle…if you look at the whole picture, it is overwhelming and terrifying, but if you work on your little part of the jigsaw and know that people all over the world are working on their little bits, that’s what will give you hope.” Wishing you and Ray a very Merry Christmas!

    • Thank you Ellen. It is so true that if we all work on our little part, then the pieces will slowly come together. Most (if not all) of us can easily complain and express a desire for change.     • Hi Erika. Blogging this past few years has been an interesting journey, due mainly to “meeting” people like yourself. Thank you so much for sharing your perspectives, and your music. I too was a little surprised to see “O Holy Night” on your Post today! Great minds think alike perhaps? (No need to answer!).

  6. Beautifully written post and a beautiful song to go with it. This has always been one of my favorite Christmas songs as well. Many have recorded it and I enjoy them all, though I think Celine Dion’s recording of the song is still one of the best ones.
