This is what our home looked like on Christmas Eve. Typically, the snow will just starting piling up now until the spring.
We went downtown that evening because there was a choir singing on the town square and, on our way back home… another pic!
How could anybody not love this climate? 🙂

Very pretty! Although I admit that my appreciation for winter ends exactly on January 7. Unless there is an exceptionally beautiful snow that conveniently melts off the next day.

This is a beautiful photo of Ray and his human! Your home looked ready to celebrate, so inviting. We are preparing to be inundated with snow tomorrow from Winter Storm Grayson. I love everything about snow…except the shoveling these days. Thank-you for sharing your wonderful photos.

We had some sleet today at breakfast and the children outside the restaurant were trying to scrape the ice of the windshield wipers of a car and make a snowman on the hood. Closest we get to snow here in Alvin, Texas on the Texas Gulf Coast. I am from Virginia and miss making snow cream with fresh snow and Eagle Brand condensed milk. Even my husband’s dog loved it in his dishpan leftovers. The next time it snowed, Tippy ran around sampling various parts of the yard, looking for the sweet part.

You scrape off the first layer (the crusty/icy part) and use the clean part underneath.

Hmmmm Rae. It is my understanding that the airborne pollutants are “collected” by the snow while it is being formed, and on its way down. It just looks cleaner underneath because it has been protected from surface particles, snow melt chemicals etc. On a positive (?) note, apparently pollutant levels are extremely low… however:
“Parisa Ariya of Canada’s McGill University recently told the Huffington Post. She was the lead researcher on a 2016 paper that found falling snow can soak up unsavory chemicals from gasoline exhaust in the air, like toluene, xylenes and benzene, a known carcinogen.”

It does sound as if the problem aspects of eating snow are minimal to an adult, but I would not encourage children to eat it as their bodies are still developing and therefore (I would guess) far more sensitive to the chemicals noted.

He is not thrilled with singing, but will tolerate the singers. He sees a group of people in general as a wonderful opportunity, and says hello to as many as possible in the hope that he gets treats (as many as possible)! 🙂

*hand up and waving* Me, me! I hate the cold, and would only like the snow if I could play in it without the cold. Didn’t mind it as a child growing up in Pennsylvania, but now all I want is the warm sunshine (and a beach, if possible, please).

It looks cozy with the snow, but I’m not in for these temperatures, that is too cold. Seven years ago, we had -25 C. in Denmark and that was terrible cold. I appreciate the more mild temperatures, where I live now in Spain.

We love that the air is so “fresh”; the mosquitos are being frozen to death along with many other “bugs”… and you can guarantee that we’ll love the Spring when it arrives! I love having 4 distinct seasons. 🙂

I do understand you with the seasons. My health are not that good with the cold and/or humidity, why I chose to move to Spain, where I don’t have same challenges, as I had in Denmark with my health.

I thought the same and with Arthritis dry and warm weather is the best. We do have cold here in the winters too, but not like I used to before. Thank you.

Two lovely photographs Ray. It’s about 6 centigrade in west Scotland today but quite a stiff wind. Hot soup is the order of the day. I was in Salmon Arm some winters ago so I .appreciate how cold it can get.

It’s very pretty but I’d rather see snow in pictures than actually experience it. We are in a bitter cold freeze that is breaking century old records. Brrrr!

OMG! OMG! OMG! In truth, I can’t feel the difference between 19 degrees and 7. Cold is just cold although I rarely am out for very long.

One just dresses accordingly and adjusts. Those temperatures do (I believe) kill off a lot of “bugs”! That’s good! 🙂

Maybe real bugs but there are a lot of sick people in my area. Fortunately one me or my husband. It’s not necessarily the cold weather but the confinement of indoors that spreads things.

As I sit here in my tee shirt in our lounge, it’s raining outside and temperatures are around 5 degrees C (41 F). We haven’t had snow like that since 2008 Colin. Very impressive (but I don;t want to share thank you) 🙂

Hi Jodi – It was built in 1920, as one of many which were constructed as an economical way for soldiers to buy a home upon returning from WW1. It worked out really well for me for so many reasons! 🙂
