I have Posted a few pics of Ray sleeping, simply because I find his sleeping positions interesting. I have to believe that they are comfortable positions otherwise he wouldn’t be asleep…. would he?
He started off the new year, in typical Ray style, by giving us a little challenge. Which leg comes from where?
If nothing else, it makes me realize how flexible I am not!
I think I get the best pictures of Cino when she is sleeping. 🙂

Well at least if you can catch them (or Ray!) between grunts, twitches and other general dream triggered activities… then the subject should be quite still for a good picture! 🙂

I hate that twitching stuff. It always freaks me out when Cino does that.

I know that feeling. Ray will often go through a brief spell of frantic twitching… and then nothing. No movement.. no breathing… motionless, and then he’ll take a deep breath and all is well again. It’s scary!

The most photogenic dog, in any position! Love that back paw across his face, too cute. Pleasant doggie dreams for sure! Thank-you, we always love seeing Ray. Smeary kiss on Ray’s nose from Benjamin.

I love it when their legs looks like this! Too adorable (not to mention incredibly flexible).

I am almost (stress almost) tempted to shout out “GREENIE!”, because he would probably get tangled up in his own legs and fall off the chair! 🙂

I doubt it, they are far more nimble than we are!

That is a flexible dog! I’m always amazed when I see dogs sleeping peacefully in what looks like a very uncomfortable position. But I guess it’s not uncomfortable for them.

Logically, they must like positions like that otherwise … why? Perhaps he has a wonderful sense of peace and security, for him to get into that position. When he is not so relaxed, he always has his back paws under him, presumably for an instant leaping up if necessary.

Too funny!! That reminds me of my mom’s cat. It used to have the funniest position while sleeping.

While pets can be an asset to a family in so many ways, being entertaining must surely be one of them! 🙂

The ease and ability of dogs to curl up and sleep is yet another magical aspect of these glorious animals!

Great photo!
Schooner is our contortionist around here – Choppy sticks with the regular poses, for the most part.

It must be tough to compete against a cat’s idiosyncrasies… so why bother! 🙂

Thank you Di. It brings back memories of when my “kids” were small. It was so peaceful when they were sound asleep!

Yeah. And they had cold feet when they climbed into my bed at 6am in case I was lonely (I was 12!)

It’s amazing how these big guys can get all curled up and twisted around in their effort to get as comfy cozy as possible. On the other hand I have seen Kali contort herself in the oddest and seemingly uncomfortable ways just to be near me if the space was only meant for one. The best thing about this is that they have no ego; no consideration or care of how it looks. Can you imagine falling asleep on a train or subway without care of ho you looked. Me for one am not comfortable getting comfortable for fear of drooling and a picture of an old fart taken by a stranger going viral on social media. 😬

Our dog laid in the most unnatural ways also. It almost defies the possible. Ray is a handsome fellow

Being such a good looking dog was a major problem initially. Imagine 75lbs of German Shepherd/Rotti who really did not like to be touched, and was generally afraid of people, being approached by strangers – “Oh……. what a gorgeous dog!” We had a lot of challenges! 🙂

Even sleeping he crosses his front paws! Love it! 😊

One can only assume that it is a nice comfortable position. 🙂

HI Dorinda, and as an afterthought… his front paws are not crossed. Rather his front left paw is crossed over his back left paw!

hahaha I saw that! Oh my, I hope he’s comfy!!

There have been a few thoughts about the comfort level… but it was his choice, so presumably it is comfortable (and he did go to sleep!).

It should be so easy for all of us! I love these pics of Ray. He brightens my day ❤

I shall tell him, but he brightens many days as we take him on his walks. We always notice the smiles on faces when they see him, and our comment to each other is “Look… he made yet another person smile!” 🙂

My old bones and joints couldn’t assume anything near that! Ha! Cats just “tuck all legs in” and curl up in a circle.

I know the feeling. I feel pain in my back and legs just thinking about Ray’s positions!

I love the way dogs (and cats) can scrunch all up and be comfortable! Flexible spines for sure.
