A lovely song, by Joan Armatrading, about a complicated romantic situation.
I came across it many years ago, when a local library had a table set up in their entrance lobby to display (for sale) old audio cassettes. I cannot remember what the price was, but it was extremely low and well worth gambling on the content! The gamble paid off! Enjoy.
That is the way I like to hear songs. I thought it was well done, till I arrived at the midway part, and beyond. It became powerful, and full of emotion. It is one of the rare songs that the artist knows how to
present it. Not merely spoken verses to a rhythm, but telling a story with melody.
As someone else said, as if the was singing about herself.I have saved that so that I can share it with Michelle, and listen to it as I work in the office.

So glad that you enjoyed it Ron. As you say, it was beautifully presented … and I love it! She does another great presentation of “Save Me”. If you get a chance, I think that you will like that one also. 🙂

This song brings back some memories from long ago of a complex situation. Not exactly as the song described but similar and while painful at the time, now I can look back and be glad things didn’t turn out the way I had wanted them to!

We are today… the results of yesterday. Celebrate who you are today! 🙂

I am! If things would have turned out differently “yesterday” I never would have had the chance to meet “Happy” Brad! 🙂

Lovely memories! But also a reminder that you and I are not as young as we used to be! 😉

She is very good isn’t she. One could actually believe that she is singing about herself! 🙂

Saving my words this year 😋

Somebody once said “It is sometimes better to say nothing, and let people think you’re a fool … than it is to say something, and remove all doubt!” By all means save your words, as there will come a time when they are really useful! 🙂

Yea and I choose to use my words at the right time and the right place … That somebody you just mentioned was really wise… glad you told me the saying I knew once again.. Have a great day!

Agreed. It is interesting when you think about the lyrics, because “she” has clearly got herself into a very complex situation… but what is “the other guy” thinking? Based on the lyrics, he knows that he is putting “her” in difficult situations, and yet he continues. That would suggest that he is totally focused on his own needs/wants that he is not considering hers. I guess chivalry is almost dead, but then … it is only a song! 🙂

Yes I agree, but there are a lot selfish people out there who only care about what they want or need. Still a great song. 🌹

Sadly Willow, I have to agree with you.

It is, but it has been the same throughout history. Fortunately there are many examples of selfless giving, which we should focus on to avoid becoming “cranky old grouches”! 🙂

Yes, funnily enough I have had a similar conversation to this today. I was discussing how nasty children can be to eachother.. I often fear for the future.🌹

Don’t! My parents were appalled at the direction society was going. My grandparents were appalled at the direction society was going. I think that we reach a point in aging where we no longer want change (“remember the good ‘ole days!”), and so we slowly lose touch with society in the present. We should just have faith that the generations behind us will figure things out! 🙂

Yes no doubt you are right. Maybe it is me who is just not in a good place. Yes we must have faith .🌹🌹

Well if you’re not in a good place Willow, you may want to dwell on where you are; why you are there; where would you prefer to be, and how to get there. Keep smiling! 🙂

Yes indeed, sort my problems and the world will sort its own problems. If I am not being too selfish. 💜

I am a great believer in looking after myself first. It’s not that I am being selfish, but rather to be of any help to others, I must he happy with myself. Putting that another way, how can I possibly help somebody de-stress their life, if I am totally stressed out? How can I project a positive attitude, if I am absorbed with negatives? Look after yourself first Willow. It makes so much sense, and others will eventually appreciate you all the more.

For the record, I try not to give advice, because I am fallible like everybody else. I do however freely offer suggestions for consideration. 🙂
