I am sure that Fleetwood Mac need no introduction, and neither does Stevie Nicks.
“Silver Springs” is on my list of favorite Fleetwood Mac songs, but it is not near the top! It does, however, rank much higher with this video version. The difference? Watch Stevie Nicks’ body language towards Lindsey Buckingham (on guitar) from 2:40 onward. It is very interesting!
There is a lot of speculation on the internet as to what was happening between them at the time of the recording, and Rolling Stone magazine goes into great detail about the lyrics. In a profession where aggressive publicity can be the key to continued success, we have to ask how much of the song’s history is fact. How much is showmanship? How much is lucrative gossip? Perhaps she was really simply “into” the role presented by the song?
Only Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham know the truth but, having watched that video many times now, I am tending to think that a serious relationship issue was on display for public consumption!
I have to say that Tusk was my favourite song from my youth. I have never seen this video or heard the song. Don’t know how I could have missed it!

I keep coming across “rather aged” songs and wonder how I missed them. I just put it down to being busy with life in general. I can pinpoint certain times in my past that were particularly “distracting” …. and attribute a number of musical oversights to those time frames!

I remember watching this footage a lot at some point – probably college, as one of my good friends was a huge Fleetwood Mac fan (and it would have been relatively new at that point).

Hey Sarah … don’t give too much history away otherwise we’ll be working out your age. I am guessing 21 right???? π

Ha! I don’t think I’m fooling anyone into thinking I’m 21 (and I don’t think I would want to be 21 again, either).

Yeh ……….. thinking about that …. you and me both! It was a time of disorientation, confusion and generally feeling at odds with the world! π

Whatever happened while the song was recorded… it is a great song, I love her voice, and how she Lindsey Buckingham performs it.

Ahh! Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks, yes, they need no introduction. This wasn’t a song that I remember but I do like it.
The “dance” going on between Stevie and Lindsey during this song is interesting. I watched it twice and I agree with you. Stevie’s face is talking and it seems to me to be a bit more personal than just doing it for show. I believe the words were coming from her heart. Guess we will never really know!
