It must be a hard life being an entertainer. Simply being an”overnight-success” seems to take on average around 5 years and, if “success” is achieved, you are then typically controlled by so many business elements that your life is really not your own any more. It can become a blur of concerts and studios, interspersed with many hours inside a moving tour bus.
Ray is a bit of a celebrity in our town, and so more people know him than know us. We have had occasions where we have seen an individual pass by with a big smile and a “Hi Ray!” We looked at each, both thinking “Who was that?” Fortunately, much as he loves to ride in our car, touring seems to be of little interest to him which is probably just as well given his demeanor in the pic below.
Yes … even a dog can collapse after an exhausting performance!
Stay humble, Ray…even if you are a big deal around town.

I think the last song had been sung, based on his body language Dorinda. 🙂

That photo is an instant classic! Ray – so appropriately named.

The shelter staff were using musicians for naming conventions. Ray was named after Ray Charles….. but you probably already knew that! 🙂

Benjamin says : Poor tired doggie needs some treats, that will do it!” Ray appears to have had enough of the dog-eat-dog life of entertaining…too much work and not enough rewards. We love the photo. Thank-you x 2!!

Benjamin is right. Hold a treat in front of a sleeping Ray …. and a sleeping Ray would wake up really fast! 🙂

Love it!! What a ham! He is a natural entertainer Colin. Look how he entertains all of us without even lifting up a paw!

40? He seems to have a lot more than that, and very frequently. 🙂

Maggie sleeps most of the day now and at night curls up on the bottom of the bed behind my knees and stays there until about 6am.
How does Ray cope with the heat Colin? At least we have the beach here and she can go swimming or paddling if she wanted to.

Ray can get very lethargic in our heat and humidity. It is not surprising because he has a double coat, and it is very thick (and currently covering our home!). Were only a 10 minute walk from L. Ontario which he loves to paddle in, grab sticks and generally be silly!

Glad there’s somewhere he can cool off. Maggie’s throwing her coat all over the place, we’re finding great clumps of it and I’m forever checking her in case there are bald patches! I believe collies have double coats too, so she’s probably shedding that.

The joys of a double coat dog! Just got to love them regardless! 🙂

I am sure he does. Entertaining is hard work, but he seems to have the photo shoot part of it down pat. He is a natural for the camera. I bet the paparazzi love him!
