The pics on Monday’s Post were taken on our journey home after a long trail walk, but today’s pic was taken during that walk. We had stopped to admire the tree lined trail, and all the trees surrounding us, and decided that it was an opportunity that could not be missed.
Soon everywhere will be white, which will be beautiful. That will be followed by so much new growth, which will be exhilarating. Soon after that we will have a pretty dense overhead canopy of green, which will eventually be followed once again by the browns, reds and golds of fall. One just has to love the variety of four distinct seasons!
A New Direction Perhaps? 
I can’t imagine living where I didn’t have everything from buggy heat to snow. 🙂

Yes, the seasons do reflect the cycle of life. Although we get little or no snow, everything is either dead or dormant here for the winter, also. Beautiful background in your pic.

I guess “dead” is slowly breaking down to provide nourishment for future growth, and dormant is simply taking a long nap! Isn’t it wonderful! 🙂

Although I love the spring and summer look most, I like all of the different dresses of certain places.

I’m an island person (who does not live on one). I’d be happy with moderate temps and ocean breezes all year round. However, I do enjoy looking at your pictures.

While there are times I grouse about the heat, wind, cold, there is nothing quite like autumn to savor, and my favorite time of year. And you’re right, four distinct seasons are an amazing blessing. Looks like the walk was ‘pawfect.’

A lovely picture. I agree there is beauty in each season. I really do want to live at the beach, but I also want to be close enough to the woods to take a walk when I want to and admire the trees. Plus I want to be by the beach, but it can’t be too far down South, for I want to be able to still gaze at the beauty of the sparkling snow.

You are very right, have to agree. All about being content and yes I am thankful for the places I been too and where I am right now. When Brad gets off work we are planning to go for a walk in the woods. 🙂

Wonderful! It will be a great time to talk about family life, and life in general, and really acknowledge how much you all have. When you read about immigrants having to leave their homes for fear of being killed, and taking only what they can carry; when you read about the chances they take with themselves and their children to escape from an inhumane and selfish regime; when you realize that they are putting everything “on the line” in the hope that another country will help them to re-establish themselves in a more humane society …. you cannot avoid being thankful for your own circumstances. 🙂

I envy you your forest walk Colin. There are none locally, though we have found a rather nice picnic area just outside of Louth which is surrounded by trees. We miss the plantation where we used to go every day when we were in the cottage, but that is now some 40 miles away rather than 8. Lovely Autumn picture. Will you be able to go back and take one when it’s covered in snow?

Hi Di. We are very fortunate because a river (creek) winds its way through our town and to the lake. A long time ago, somebody with vision determined that both sides of the river should be declared free from development and basically left in its natural state which, apart from the trails, it is. The trails runs up one side of the river and down the other, giving us a loop of around 6Km. The pic in this Post is on that trail. In Winter, it can be a little trickier, and the steep hills and multiple steps will be chained off for safety … but there are still lots of photo ops in Winter!
