“Walking in the Air”

My favorite song over this Christmas holiday! Love the lyrics. Love the melody. Dream on!

  1. It may surprise you to learn that I archived this post back in 2018. Since then, in addition to playing the Celtic Woman CD, I revisited the post last year and now again today. In early 2019 I found a marvelous new copy of the 2014 DVD of “The Snowman” which has the original introduction by author Raymond Briggs and the alternate introduction from David Bowie (which was a must have!). Benjamin has loved the book forever and soon became a devoted fan of the movie too. Wishing you and yours, that includes Ray of course, a very Merry Christmas! P.S.   3. I watched “The Red Balloon” last evening. What an amazing little film that is and the ending is enchanting! This was made when I was still a child and I’ve never heard of it before. I will share this with Benjamin, he has always loved balloons. Thank-you! P.S. I hope you received the email that I sent about the video that you sent to me yesterday. Eldest daughter loved it too!

  4. We are devoted Celtic Women fans in my house and have been fortunate to attend several performances by them over the years. The first time that I heard this song was on the “Lullaby” album, that I love. I also have it on the most recent Christmas album from 2017 “Celtic Women : The Best of Christmas”, and it is the best! If memory serves me correctly, my eldest daughter told me that this is their shortest song. A total aside, but it never ceases to amaze me that on the radio here, Christmas music starts around Thanksgiving and ends on Christmas night. A beautiful choice by you! Thank-you and enjoy the Twelve Days of Christmas with music!

      • I did not recall a movie. When I googled “The Snowman” it went to a 2017 psychological thriller/crime film and I thought that surely you did not mean this movie! So, then I googled Raymond Brigg’s “The Snowman”, as I do have the book from back when my daughters were tots and sure enough came upon the 30 minute 1982 movie. I loved it, so like the book. I even watched the two different beginnings with Raymond Briggs himself narrating; then the later one which features David Bowie, narrating up in an attic with the scarf. The Celtic Woman song is perfect in the delightful, otherwise wordless film. Benjamin will love this, as he loves the book, thinking he is the nameless boy. We build “Mr. Snowy” snowmen all winter and the last remnants of a late Spring one still remains in my freezer! I hope that we have enough snow to build one just like “The Snowman” this year! Thank-you and I should not be this boastful, but my daughter’s and I are attending the 2019 Celtic Woman “Ancient Land” Tour in Hartford, Conn. this April. I had to ask my eldest daughter if she knew of the 1982 movie and she did! She also saw that 2017 one that I mentioned. During our 10:30 PM discussion is when I found about the tickets for Celtic Woman. I was very surprised!! A Christmas gift of tickets for the whole family for a 2Cellos concert is also in April!! Do you know the music of 2Cellos? They are a family favorite too. Please excuse this lengthy comment, my propensity for loquacity is in overdrive! Thank-you for guiding me to this movie! P.S. I also noticed that I typed Celtic Women, not Woman, in yesterday’s comment, I was so sleep deprived from the holiday. Much more alert this morning!

  5. We were listening to Celtic Women tonight. They just make me feel so peaceful when listening to them. Beautiful song, and now it will be in my head as I go to sleep to dream.
    When listening to this song your poem, “Until We Meet Again.” came to me. Both of them deal with “flying in the sky.” 🙂
