“Julie Through the Glass”

My granddaughter arrived into this world, pretty much the way she has been ever since …. expressing herself extremely well! She totally ignored her official “due date” and decided to launch herself on her timing, taking advantage of our ambulance services which did an emergency run to a Toronto  hospital at the request of our local hospital. When I first saw her, she was in an incubator. I had never seen such a small baby (just over 3lbs) before, and was amazed at not only the size of her fingers and toes … but also at the tiny wires that were monitoring her, and the minuscule tubes that were helping her to stay alive.

Alex is now well into her 20’s, but this song immediately takes me back to her arrival into our world. Enjoy.

  1. A very sweet post this morning. I don’t know what it is, but when a poster adds a tune that makes a memory that is as sweet as this it makes my heart feel full. It’s like knowing you so much better. I love music and many a tune from the sixties, seventies, and eighties take me back to sweet memories. I bet your Granddaughter is living her best life with your help. This just really touched me.

  2. A wonderful song by Carly! I may have heard of Carly Simon a time or two. 🙂
A sweet song of joyful emotion! It took me back in time and my cheeks may be a little wet! There are just some days in life that you never forget!
So thankful for the wonderful medical technology that there is to help tiny babies like Alex was!
The line that struck me the most in this song, was “teaching them how to love themselves..” How to accept themselves for the special, unique person that they are! For that is so very important! If you can’t love yourself, how can you really love others?
