I was sorting through a box of old photographs in my “get the pics in albums” project, and came across this handwritten poem in my writing. While it is very good, I know that I did not create it so must have copied it from somewhere. A search on Google was rather inconclusive as to who to attribute it to, so I am going to do what others have done and just consider the author anonymous.
To Mr/Ms Anonymous, may I say what a lovely thought is expressed in your poem. To my Blog readers, may I say what an excellent start this poem would make to yours, mine and everybody else’s imminent new year!
If I could catch a rainbow
I would do it just for you
And share with you its beauty
On the days you are feeling blue
If I could build a mountain
You could call your very own
A place to find serenity
A place to be alone
If I could take your troubles
I would toss them in the sea
But all these things I am finding
Are impossible for me
I cannot build a mountain
Or catch a rainbow fair
But let me be what I know best
A friend that’s always there

Reminds me of the Crystal Gayle song “When I Dream”.

Hmmmm! I am not familiar with that song so will have to check it out on YouTube later today. Many thanks. 🙂

Well now you have given me a problem! I enjoyed Crystal Gayle’s recording of “When I Dream”, but the problem is … I know that melody from somewhere. else, and it’s going to bug me until I can find it!

I was similarly bugged when I saw the poem you posted and recognized a certain cadence. Even figuring out the first step, i.e., what is the genre, took me a while.

Well at least our brain cells are working … which is good! I’ve been researching “When I Dream” and am amazed at how many singers have recorded it, but none are ringing any bells with me yet. 🙂

Talkin’ in Your Sleep is another great Crystal Gayle song.

Hey slow down. I have a music library of a little over 6800 tracks but, not being too much into Country, I don’t have any Crystal Gayle. Now I am having to think about that! I thought perhaps I had heard Sylvia Tyson sing “When I Dream”, but cannot find any evidence of that.

I am finding many! Melanie was quite the note/letter writer! 🙂

That is great! And I am thinking either she learned that from you or you from her, for a little bird told me that she finds notes from you after your visit. 🙂

They can be, can’t they! They have “wings” you know. 🙂

It has been my experience that birds usually do. Two in fact! 🙂

With a large enough vacuum cleaner and tractor, perhaps you could catch a rainbow or build a mountain. But I prefer the natural type.
I hope you and Ray, and the rest of your family, have a happy new year.
