I love to see a comedy show in which one member of the cast ad libs and totally changes the direction of the show. Tim Conway’s imagination, and timing, is a perfect example on this video. IĀ have watched it many times and still laugh at Tim Conway trying to hold himself together; at Carol Burnett for not being able to do anything about him; at Vikki Lawrence’s rather unconventional way of ending it, and of Dick Van Dyke’s total collapse and loss of words.
We need a few good laughs in today’s stressful climate. Self indulge here and enjoy!
OMG! This is my favourite Carol Burnett episode along with the dentist! This past summer, my husband and I actually saw Carol Burnett’s live comedy show she put on here in Toronto. We were so glad to have a chance to see her perform live in person! And even at her senior age that she is now, she was so witty and entertaining! And one of the episodes she showed on a big screen was the dentist. I thought I was going to dye laughing. You know when you are laughing so hard that you can’t breathe?š

There are no words for this. Like you, I could watch it over and over again. Their skits were all classic. So many of them. The one in the dental office with Harvey K was crazy good.

The Carol Burnett Show provided great entertainment from the beginning to the end of each show. Tim Conway was a one of a kind and comedy lost a great talent when he died last year. I loved him most in his “Oldest Man” skits. Thank-you for the memories and the much needed laughter.

You’re welcome Ellen. I think that we all need some lighter moments right now. š

The Carol Burnett Show was such great fun and just classic at good old fashioned comedy without vulgarity or profanity. We could use more of that these days.

Totally agree Monika. When a comedian has to stoop to using profanities to get a laugh, I would prefer that they find an alternative profession.

Everybody’s body language was amazing when they realized that Tim Conway was just on a roll! š

They was a funny show. Especially when they laughed at their own jokes, like in this skit.

Oh that was great! I watched lt twice. They were all great comedians! I do really feel for Carol Burnett and how she puts her head in her hands. I feel that I can relate to that feeling so well! āŗ

I can imagine her thinking “Oh God … where is he going with this story!” Vikki Lawrence is “How are we supposed stay on script with this performance?”, while Dick Van Dyke is “I just have to love Tim’s imagination. There’s no way I can interrupt him.”

Without a doubt, one of our finest comic minds. This and his dentist routine are classics. Thanks for reminding me.
