Yentl was a lovely movie, and the final scene in which Barbra Streisand sings to her father (who had passed away much earlier, but had encouraged her to follow her dreams even though they lived in a male dominant society) is quite moving …. especially at the very end where those Streisand lungs prove their amazing capability! Enjoy!

Musicals are so corny. But Streisand does have a powerful voice. I had to adjust my computer, as it nearly vibrated off the desk.

I love musicals …. Sound of Music, Carousel, Oklahoma, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Summer Holiday, Gilbert & Sullivan comic operas and many more. They’re only as corny as you (the viewer) sees them. 🙂

I like a lot of musicals also. But I still think they’re corny. But I like corny.

When it comes to musicals I have to agree with what Colin said. I LOVE them! Sound of Music is an all time favorite. I have enjoyed so many, including Oklahoma and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. Fiddler on the Roof is another great one. Then you have the classics like Mary Poppins and there also is The King and I, and the list goes on. 🙂

I find most of those musicals entertaining. What’s corny is that normal dialogue is replaced by people singing to each other. Nobody does that in real life, unless they’re cuckoo.

Isn’t the whole entertainment business loaded with people who do not behave like most of us in real life? Cirque de Soleil? Comedians? Celebs? Donald Trump? Criminals? Sky Divers? etc etc etc. 🙂

Exactly!! Many times I roll my eyes as I remind Brad that we are watching a movie or a musical, not real life! LOL!

I saw the movie when I was 14 but it left something in my heart and later I sang “Papa Can You Hear Me”. A wonderful movie, a wonderful Barbara Streisand, wonderful music!

I remember hiring this on video and loved it. I’ve always loved her voice, and who can hold a note like that now?

I haven’t seen it, though I’ve seen two older versions and enjoyed both. I’m not a fan of Lady Gaga anyway
