The photograph below was taken last week!Β All that white stuff behind us is snow on top of ice, and flat pieces of ice are flowing down and into the lake.
This was an opportunity to be amused at the sight of a small group of gulls being totally motionless … but gracefully heading “down stream”. They were standing on an ice flow which was barely visible to us, and moving with the current.
Perhaps in a few days, the ice will have gone? Perhaps in a few days the areas which have a risk of flooding will be able to relax? Perhaps in a few days we will be in “double digit” temperatures? Perhaps in a few days I will be wearing two layers of clothing instead of three? Perhaps in a few days, we will be experiencing the weather that we have been anticipating for quite some time now, but we are still in March … so perhaps I am just dreaming?
Great photo

We hit 88 degrees here on the Texas Gulf Coast today (4/9) Not to rub it in or anything. Keep your old ice. I hate ice except in cold drinks. LOL

Yes …… indeed ……….. Scotch on the rocks is very good, but I really didn’t need to hear about weather in Texas! π

Such an amazing picture! It brings to my mind a hundred emotions: nostalgia, hope, reassurance, camaraderie, peace.
Here’s wishing you a happy rest of March, Colin. π

Thank you D. It was certainly a very peaceful area at that time (rather different in the Summer!). Very inviting to sit on a bench with a coffee and contemplate life!

Winter hasn’t finished with us yet, but the worst is over. Green leaves are pushing up through the ground, white and purple and yellow crocuses are blooming, the sun is warmer and higher in the sky, snow has no staying power, daytime highs in the 40’s. We are more grateful for spring after a long, cold winter. Great pic of you and Ray! π

Love the beauty of the way the lake glistens with the ice. Ray is as handsome as always
And yes, your smile is always good to see. π

We are having a spring rain today. It’s beautiful in it’s own way. Not bitter cold but not exactly warm. It will help green things pop up.

Hi Jodi. I really don’t have a problem with our Winter here. Given that I have no control over the weather, only how I react to it … I enjoy all four seasons and, if going outside is not too appealing some days, then I simply enjoy myself doing stuff inside! π

This is why I prefer to live on high ground. Lakes and rivers are beautiful, but not much fun when they enter your livingroom. I’m ready for the cold weather to end, also. We had a few days of some nice stuff, but now it’s turned a bit cool. Winter is leaving slowly this year.
