I saw a video of the 2Cellos for the first time this past week, and I was really impressed at how they had taken a rather stereotyped classical-music instrument and taken it into another dimension! They have numerous videos on YouTube which showcase not only their musical ability with their cellos, but also their sense of humour. Given the current state of our world, I thought that I should lighten things up this Saturday, and I can highly recommend spending some additional time with 2Cellos on YouTube! I just love their rendition of Gabriel’s Oboe).
I love these too. I came across them a couple of years ago and have a few of their cd’s.

I really don’t know how I missed out on them, especially as they have such a huge following. Better late than never! 🙂

I can’t even remember how I came across them. I think it could have been via a blogger mentioning them and then me taking a look. But I am glad I went to look them up with interest. 🙂

I love it when people break out of proscribed mold. Who says violins are “classical” instruments? Reminds me of a segment on NPR about a guy (Barski?) who created multi-track classical favorites using only his accordion. They’re not just for polkas anymore! 🙂

Hi Joan. I have always been puzzled by the rigidity of so many perspectives of an art form. Shouldn’t any art form encourage creativity? 🙂

Society and the media plant ideas in our heads about what’s “right” and what isn’t. Artists and musicians don’t succumb to such programming, but the general public does. It’s up to us to show them it’s OK (and fun!) to think outside the box. 🙂

Aren’t they fabulous?!?! I became aware of them a number of years ago and absolutely love their versions of “Hurt” and “Smooth Criminal.” Extremely talented guys. Thank you for sharing this video.

It is awesome how you can go wild with a cello (or 2 celli). Loved the video. Have a good Saturday and stay safe, Colin.

Hi Erika. As we have both projected many times in different Posts, all you need is a dream … and the determination to take that dream through to reality. Those two did an awesome job of reinventing the cello! Take care. 🙂

Much as I love classical music, it is so refreshing to see/hear a different perspective on the cello. So glad you enjoyed it.

Another very creative option by a group of cellists (and friends)! Much as I love the deep mellow sound resulting from multiple cellos, their choice of music leaves me rather blank, but then … I’ve never been a fan of Radiohead and the like. Give them full marks though for “pushing the boundaries” of the cello!

Jami Seiber plays electric cello, but more folk/new age style.

Yes I like her sound. I also like David Arkenstone and Aeoliah which I tag as “Dreamscape” genre (along with Jean Michel Jarre, Mike Oldfield, Bill Douglas etc.). 🙂

I remember “Gabriel’s Oboe”. They did a great job with it and yes, they were entertaining to watch! Thanks for the smiles. I will have to google for more of their songs, now that I know who they are. Google and YouTube come in handy, don’t they! 🙂

Good Morning Colin! And, it is a very good morning indeed! You cannot imagine the smile that came to my face when I came across, [New Post] Two Cellos, peeking out amidst my inbox. I thought, finally Colin is going to offer music by 2Cellos! You may not recall my having mentioned them back in December of 2018 in a comment on your post of a Celtic Woman song, “Walking in the Air”, posted for Christmas Day. I remember it well because of the song and that I also mentioned my having tickets for concerts in April 2019 to Celtic Woman and 2Cellos…how could I ever forget that?! Be that as it may, I have loved 2Cellos ever since my eldest Daughter saw them on the Ellen DeGeneres show in 2011 and introduced them to me. Stjepan Hauser and Luka Sulic are two immensely talented musicians and mesmerizing performers. Listening to their albums is enjoyable, but watching their videos takes their music to another dimension. To actually see them in concert is the ultimate experience of their music! Whilst I am not a participant in social media, such as FaceBook & Twitter, I do follow many things on Instagram. Hausercello is one of them. He often has short music videos, most recently a day ago, that are so good! Might I add, Hauser is one handsome fellow!! You have lightened the day! Thank-YOU!!
