Sandy Denny was a well known singer in the UK Folk/Pop scene in the 1970’s but, very sadly, died in 1978 after a fall down some steps. “Her death was ruled to be the result of a traumatic mid-brain haemorrhage and blunt force trauma to her head.” (per Wikipedia) She would have been 31 years old. I always loved her vocal tones and the way she used them.
For anybody interested, a search on this Blog for Sandy Denny will produce two more of her songs that I really like – “Solo” and “Full Moon”. Meanwhile, enjoy “Who Knows Where Time Goes”, recorded when she was the lead singer with Fairport Convention.
Great song fabulous voice, so sad to die so suddenly.💜

The song is new to me and so is Sandy Denny. How sad that she left so suddenly and young. She has a wonderful way of singing and I like the style.

Glad you enjoyed her singing Erika. One can only speculate as to what she could have done, but for that fatal fall. So sad.

Yes, very sad. But to tell from her beautiful songs, she must have lived her purpose.

I think Full Moon is my favorite song of hers, but her lovely voice shined through in this one too.
“Where does tne time go” is something I frequently ask. 🙂

I’ve never heard of her, but I think she had a nice voice. I’m always suspicious of deaths involving falling down stairs. I hope Sherlock Holmes investigated the case.

There was some talk that she was not totally in control of herself (drugs? alcohol?) at the time, but I don’t believe that was ever determined. Regardless … a sad loss to the music world.
