Agreed Erika. In fact the only covers that immediately come to mind that really worked well, are Heart’s “Stairway to Heaven”(Led Zeppelin), and Disturbed’s “Sounds of Silence” (Simon & Garfunkel). There are no doubt a few others, but I would have to “dig around” to find them! 🙂
I agree, Maybe if I hear a cover version before the original it may be different but… we are at an age where we rather know the original… lol. Yes, Disturbed created a fantastic version of the Sounds of Silence.
Yes indeed is it really that old !!

Hey Monika – How’s it goin’? Ray is now almost 12 so is showing his age, but still a lovable lump of dog! 🙂

This is still one of my favorite songs of Elton John’s. It still touches me when hearing it. No cover version does it any justice.

You know ………… at the risk of upsetting some S & G fans, I think Disturbed’s “Sounds of Silence” is better than S & G’s! It is certainly more dramatic.

I think this was Elton’s first big hit in the U.S.A. It’s surprising that he’s still cranking them out. He had a chart topper just last year.
