The following is apparently an extract from the 2019 inaugural address by the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky:
“We need people in power who will serve the people. That is why I do not want my picture in your offices, for the President is not an icon, an idol or a portrait. Hang your kids’ photos instead and look at them each time you are making a decision.”
Just imagine what the world would be like if everybody considered their kids before making any decision.
Seems like some pretty good advice, Colin. A hearty ‘good to hear from you’ with a good chin scritch for Ray.

Hi Monika – Ray is showing all the signs of being in his “senior years”, but most certainly still enjoys some hands-on attention. 🙂

Thanks for the update, Colin. No doubt, he is quite dignified as a senior citizen. Too bad digital TimTams aren’t possible along with the chin scritch. Best regards from me, Norman & Elsa. Hope you and Carol are doing well also.

Powerful words, if only….. Politics is not for the faint hearted.

And of course it goes far beyond politics. If industry has listened to the environmentalists, would we be having the current climate issues? If medical research funding was used primarily to identify causes rather than treatments of various conditions, would we still have such a prevalence of serious ailments? Powerful words indeed.

I don’t have kids, so I guess I’d be indecisive.
I do wonder if Zelensky followed this advice when deciding to fight back against the Russians. After all, it’s mainly kids who end up fighting in wars.

I guess that’s the dilemma. Do they give in to Russian oppression and forfeit their culture, or do they fight to preserve it knowing that lives will be lost? Politics is a very serious business to be in!

That’s one hell of a dilemma.

Indeed. While we all freely criticize politicians on a regular basis, I wonder how many of us would really want to be in that position!

I know. It’s probably a whole lot more fun to make fun of them, than to be them.

What a nice surprise to see this pop up in my emails. I have been impressed with Zelensky in many ways and this just gives another reason! Yes, what a difference indeed!!

One can only imagine …. if our “decision makers” considered their children before they opened their mouths, and even better before they signed legislative documents! (Dream on Colin!)
