I saw Ralph McTell sing “Streets of London” at the Peterborough Folk Club back in the late 1960s, and here he is singing it 50+ years later. Not only has the song stood the “test of time” but the audience remembered it, and joined in, which was really nice.
A beautiful song with beautiful lyrics. Enjoy!
Having trouble loading this Colin, but I know the song well as it’s one of my favourites to play.

Yes it is a lovely “social conscience” kind of song! 🙂

I love this song and this version is moving. I often sang it in my singing lessons…. decades ago. So far I only knew the version of Roger Whittaker

It’s a Ralph McTell song but, yes, Roger Whittaker does do a nice version of it as well. 🙂

Nice little thought-provoking tune. I don’t think this was ever a hit in America. But I like it.

It was the only “hit” he has had, but has written quite a few really nice songs.

Lovely song. I could listen to more by him. His voice has a soothing quality to it, enhanced by his Scottish accent. 🙂
Thanks for sharing another gem!
