Last Saturday I linked to Blackmore’s Night performing “Dandelion Wine”, and noted what a great song on which to potentially end a concert program. “I’ve Been This Way Before” is an actual end of concert song, presented by Neil Diamond and his performance at The Greek Theatre, which resulted in the “Love at the Greek” album, was my introduction to the song! Enjoy!
Ahh! Neil Diamond, known for his blue eyes. The eyes that sweep you away while listening to his soothing voice.
I am not real familiar with a lot of his songs but I do have some favorites. One of them being “Sweet Caroline”. I know, the irony. A name that I do not like, but he makes it a lovely song. Obviously though if he would have had the name be “Carolyn” it would be even better. 😊

Brad and I saw a show recently about Neil Diamond and it told how he was in Vegas at a Elvis Presley concert when Elvis called him out in the audience. He told everyone what a great singer he was and he asked him to come up on stage and sing with him. He loved Elvis, but he thought there was no way that he could actually sing with him on stage, so he declined.

An interesting piece of Trivia. 🙂

Any chance you have him confused with “ole blue eyes” Sinatra? It would appear that Neil Diamond has brown eyes. 🙂

I’m going back to my corner now. 🙂

Umm, whoops, I just fact-checked this, myself. According to famcelebrity, he indeed does have blue eyes. Carolyn, could you please hand me that shovel?

Other sites state brown, and if you google images of him …. brown.

I am going to google images right now 🙂 I may be starting to climb out!

Ok you can just delete my previous comment, I am not digging my way out. The first thing I googled said Brown and then I googled again and it said his eyes were brown. Then I googled which singer was known as “ole blue eyes” for that is the nickname I was thinking of when I commented about his blue eyes and yes you were right, it said Frank Sinatra.
Once again, I don’t like Google!

You’re right. This one says brown. And the photo shows brown eyes. Take your shovel back, Carolyn.

So with him being one of your favorites, you are probably famailar with his “Sweet Carolyn” song. Great song, isn’t it!

I was never really “into” Neil Diamond, but thought the “Love at the Greek” album was a great live recording. Great atmosphere! It is the only Neil Diamond album I have. I also have him singing “Last thing on my mind”.

Yes I am. Neil Diamond was a noble man, and apparently felt great sympathy for the hole-diggers of this world.

Ummm… …mmm…! Well…that wasn’t exactly what I was thinking!

Do you really expect anybody to know what you were thinking?

Oh gosh! I think I probably shouldn’t answer that question and I will just go put my headphones on and listen to my song! ☺️

So my curious nature kicked in and I decided to look up the meaning behind the “Sweet Carolyn” song, for I was very confident it wasn’t the reason that Tippy gave! I found it, and I was right. 🙂 It was about his wife, but his wife’s name was Marsha and that just wasn’t working right as he tried to rhyme it with other words in the song, , he needed a name with 3 syllables. Sooo … he picked the name Caroline, Carolyn though has 3 syllables’ as well. 🙂

You should sue him for misspelling your name.

No, I am too sweet to sue, but it’s a shame that he didn’t know that the word sweet and the name Carolyn just go together so much better! 😃

Yes, it really is too bad. Because you really are so . . . so . . . uh, excuse me while I go puke.

Oh, I remember when you and Colin helped me find words that I had difficulty with … so please let me return the favor. The word that I think you are looking for is “sweet”.

I think my condition is psychological. Somehow, the word “sweet” gives me the wambles.

Hmmm….psychological? Oh yes, that explains it,no more needs said. I do believe there is someone who could identify with psychological conditions, you may want to ask him for help. 😏
