That subject was from my perspective and impacts me, so the rest of you can relax and get on with your days without any additional pressures! ๐
So what was my decision? It was/is to back off from blogging for a while. As has been my pattern over many years, I have (once again) stretched myself over more than 24 hours/day which obviously doesn’t work. On the negative side, that means I have to scale back on some activities but, on the plus side, I can look back on a very productive, educational and interesting life … so it has its good points!
I will still be reading Blog Posts, and will still Comment if I feel I can offer something, but my own Posts will be limited for a few months.
So what caused this?ย A number of poems in my “Just Thinking” book were written as songs.ย Quite a few years ago now, I used to write songs and, with the assistance of a number of guitars; an electronic keyboard and some recording equipment, had a lot of fun. I really miss those days, and need to get back into my music.
Quite a few years ago now,ย I used to coach a long distance running group, and ran many races from 5Km to the Marathon.ย While I do not particularly miss the discipline necessary to race those distances, I do miss the overall feeling of being active with all the appropriate health benefits.
Quite a few years ago now, I started to organize photographs (that go back to the late 1800s). I got that project started but, what with the advent of digital photography and the years that have flown by, I have made minimal progress. I want to have all the photographs in binders by this year end. That will include explanatory notes, background stories, and anything else of interest. The end result is that one day, when I am no longer around, the binders will mean more than just a collection of photographs. There will be stories around the who, what, when, where and why thoughts of the reader.
Quite a few years ago now, my interest in model railways was being handicapped by aging eyes, such that modelling became a frustrating challenge … but then I discovered a train simulator, which offered much more than a model railway and I was soon creating my own routes etc. My routes are now on the simulator company’s download station for anybody interested, and areย proving to be well respected.ย I have a number of projects in that area awaiting completion.
On top of that, I still have to accommodate, the lovely Ray; the lovely Carol, and various maintenance projects around my lovely home!
Finally, I still have to come up with creative ways of promoting:
“Who Said I was up for Adoption?” (The story ofย Ray)
“The Odessa Chronicles” (Many short stories about a Barn Owl, a Jackalope, a cat, and a human who share a small farm, and who slowly figure out how they can actually live together!)
“Just Thinking” (A book of poetic verses, many of which have a personal component!).
All 3 books can be seen, with reviews, at amazon.com
Those of you of my general age range will no doubt agree that time passes so quickly now, but it also seems that there is a distinct correlation between that and having far less than 24 hours in a day.
I feel quite exhausted already, but must get going.
Those of us around your age understand completely.
You will be missed.
R.

Enjoy the down time (though I suspect it will be still quite filled). A break is always a good way to rejuvenate and re-energize.

It will be a busy down time Monika, but it will get a lot of “one off” jobs completed. ๐

If only there could be a way to put more hours into a day! It may seem a little stressful to have so much you want to do, but on the other hand I love that you have so many things you want to do! I say that because I know others who retire and they decide they are just done and they don’t move off the couch. You, my friend, are not like that and I say go for it! I think it would be great for you to do more music and very cool about your railway routes. Also exercise is always good, as long as you don’t overdo it! Naps are still good too! ๐
Enjoy everything and I will always be glad to see your posts whenever they appear or read your comments. ๐
Oh and as far as marketing goes, Jason actually just asked me today about “The Odessa Chronicles” and marketing and I told him to start thinking of some creative ways for us.

Hey ……….. perhaps Jason would like to take on the marketing responsibilities? Based on our sales to date, the US is easily the most supportive customer base for us. I am sure we could come up with an appropriate performance-based reward for him.
For anybody who is reading this and would like to know more about “The Odessa Chronicles”, please click the book cover over in the right side column. The book is available from all the usual on-line book retailers. ๐

You just might have a very good idea there. ๐ I will talk to him about it, but will wait until he is feeling better. He has been sick for a week now. Trying to kick a sore throat and cough away!

Wish him all the best from Canada, and to hurry up and get healthy. We need him! ๐

Thanks! Will tell him . ๐ He hates being sick and he rarely is, which is a good thing. Been drinking lots of hot tea.

The woman always gets the last word. After that, anything you may say is only the start of a new conversation.:)

That would tend to be how things work out. Reminds of the “If a man goes for a walk in the woods alone, and says something … will he still be wrong?”

We can only do so much, and can’t enjoy anything if we try to do everything. Have a good time, and we’ll see you when you’re ready to return. ๐

I’ll be here when you get back. I am “of an age” and I understand perfectly the problem of someone sneaking in and stealing hours from your day, leaving only enough to tease our ambitions. Happens all the time.

Yup! You get it! I have two driving beliefs about life – it will end one day, and one will not get a second chance at it! Putting those two together is good motivation for getting on with everything that is important to you. and to try anything new that interests you.

A good decision in order to get all of the other wonderful projects you have to work on. I applaud your bravery to just let this not take up so much of your time after such a long stretch. I’ve stumbled back and forth about doing this very thing for a few years now, but never brave enough to let it go just yet. Have fun in all your upcoming projects!

Thanks Angeline. As Blogging easily becomes part of ones life routines, it is certainly not easy to step away from it. My hope is that I keep my blog Followers (I have the best Followers), and will no doubt revisit my priorities further “down the road”.

I’m sorry to hear you will be taking some time away from blogging but i do understand your reasons behind it. I got exhausted just reading your list. I have a question about your books. Is there a way I can purchase them other than Amazon? I refuse to shop there for a number of reasons.
Go celebrate and tend yourself. Enjoy your time.

Hi fc (I love apple crumble!). All the books are available at any of the usual on-line businesses that sell books (e.g. Barnes & Noble – link below), and can also be purchased direct from FriesenPress (link below):
