I missed seeing this earlier, but glad it popped up now. Her story is so inspiring. There was a lump in my throat when we watched her on AGT. A wonderful quote that I have meant to share in my Tuesday’s quotes before but kept forgetting. Thanks for the reminder! 🙂

What an amazing young woman Colin.
Best wishes to Melanie. Is she still doing her card making?

Hi Di – She still has her “creative moments”, but she is constantly tripping over her own feet and falling badly so tends to be preoccupied with trying to stay safe. I rather suspect that her living on her own will have to change soon due to the care and attention that she needs.

Glad she’s still creative Colin. Take care and best wishes to you all.

I have seen this performance before, but even the second time I burst into tears. About a year ago, a friend of mine died one day after his 51st birthday. Once he said: “I have never felt this alive since I have cancer.” Isn’t it unbelievable that those who struggle the most are the most encouraging and see life as it is? The intro line of your post says exactly that.

Hi Erika – I guess we take so much for granted, particularly in our younger years. We behave as if life will go on forever, and tomorrow will always come. It takes either a life threatening situation, or simply the aging process, for the reality of how precarious and vulnerable our lives really are. I am now at a point where if I wake up in the morning, I know I am going to have a great day! 🙂

I am sorry to assume that you don’t seem to be in a good condition, Colin. I agree, seeing life as a gift changes the point of view dramatically which makes the zest for life get stronger. However you are doing, I hope you are happy.

Nothing life threatening going on here Erika, apart from age! That video was very poignant to me because I have a daughter who will be 51 next month and has been fighting cancer of the brain for many years now. Despite the limitations on her life as a result, and there are many, she still “soldiers on” ….. volunteers …. helps out wherever she can!

I am glad to hear that about you but understand you even better regarding your dauther’s situation. Of course, that video went deep since you have this “hanging on to life” in your own life, especially when it concerns your child. From the bottom of my heart I send your daughter and you my best thoughts and love for her having the best life possible. May she touch many many hearts with her attitude. Much love!

What an amazing attitude she had. Beautiful voice, too. Such a loss for the music world.

Life just isn’t fair, but then … nobody ever said that it would be.
