I do not know anybody who does not love at least something that the late John Denver recorded, so to find something which (to me) was a little different from his popular songs was quite difficult. He had so many popular songs! “This Old Guitar” was a song that I came across by accident, and immediately loved it. If you are in a bit of a time squeeze, he takes 1:35 to introduce the song… so you can start at that point if you so wish. Enjoy!

I am a fanatical riff enthusiast. John Denver(God rest his soul!) is a perennial favorite of mine. Glen Campbell is also at the top of my most inspiring singers. I plan to get the Box Sets (cd) of both of these gentlemen. I enjoy their music so very much !

Both those gentlemen left spaces in our world when they left us. Perhaps they should be reminders for us to make the best of our time here. Don’t put off things to tomorrow because one day… tomorrow will not come.

What a wonderful song choice for this week. Always liked John Denver and this was one of his songs that I didn’t know as well. His music had a special touch to it. Now I know what CD I have to listen to today. π
There was something that stood out to me when he introduced the song. It was when he said that once he accepted that his guitar was gone, is when he found it! Isn’t that how it is in our lives at times. We try to hold onto some things so tightly and can get obsessed with it, but letting go can surprise us in 2 ways.
We can find the beauty in the peace of letting go, and down the road we may be surprised at what shows up!

Isn’t that how life should be? When you stop learning, you have either closed your mind completely, or you have left this life.

I never want to have a closed mind and I am not exactly ready to leave this life! So yes, I guess I will keep learning! π

I too, am learning, to accept myself. I have a passion for guitar music, and it developed into being a fan of Glen Campbell, as well as my other favorite, whose songs I can’t get enough of, John Denver.

Loved his music. He didn’t do a song I didn’t like. I’ve heard this one before and it’s wonderful. Thanks.

I love John Denver’s songs so much but did not know this one either. Thank you so much for sharing. One of those artists who had a way to touch hearts… gone much too soon…

So glad you enjoyed it Ron. It was a sad day when he died. Triggers memories of Buddy Holly and Jim Croce and their premature leaving us.

A unique voice, clear as a bell. So many favorites..Rocky Mountain High, Country Boy, and especially…Annie’s Song…he did indeed “fill up our senses”.

It is sad that he left us so soon, but he certainly left a musical legacy. π
