While this is not exactly the right time of year for outdoor ball games, various balls do have year round applications … especially when you have a Ray living with you! While even his playing is treat motivated, he obviously has a lot of fun chasing down a ball.
We are both hoping that by reducing his meds, his energy level will increase such that he will play just because he wants to play, rather than seeing games as simply reasons to earn treats.

We were out walking Ray the other day, when we bumped into a lady who we had not seen for quite a few years (not long after Ray moved in with us). She was in pleasant shock at the change in him! In fact it took her a brief moment to grasp that it really was Ray … and not some other dog!
I wonder what the future will reveal!
What a wonderful testament to how far Ray has come! You and your wife should be proud for giving him a chance to bloom.

Hi Ann. We are very pleased that he picked us as his adopting family, and even more pleased to see the end results. Ray deserves a gold medal for all the effort he has put into adapting to “our world”! 🙂

I am praying that the future will reveal only good things as the meds are reduced more and more. Good doggie, Ray. p.s. The book arrived. Will properly pay/thank you later.

I am a new follower of you and Ray. I don’t blog myself, but I enjoy reading a select few blogs, such as yours. We have an Australian Shepherd mix. Her name is Murphy. She’s been with us for 8 years, although she’s 10 now. The people who had her for her first two years abused her so badly that 3 days after we brought her home from the shelter she was at the veterinarians having a rear leg amputated!
She still has trust issues, especially with men, but she’s come a long way. Lots of love and lots of patience!
On the plus side, she’s the only one who doesn’t know she’s missing a leg. And, she still ‘herds’ me into the shower! She is more fun than a barrel of monkeys.
I am really enjoying reading about Ray. So glad he found such a loving forever home.
Looking forward to more ‘tails’ of Ray!

Hi Ginger … and welcome. I started Blogging about Ray in Oct. 2014, so there are a ton of posts for your reading pleasure (assuming you have nothing better to do!). Ray’s past was unknown, but he had so many problems, socialization issues etc … and he had early stages of heart-worm as a bonus. With the help of an excellent vet, the shelter trainers, and a dog behaviorist, Ray has made huge progress over the past 5 years. All the details are in his book “Who Said I was up for Adoption?”

When your blog post title popped up, I have to admit I expected a different and more (cough) anatomical discussion. Well played, sir.

Nope! Ray has been taken care of … so nothing to discuss in that area! 🙂
