I love “tribute songs” because they have such a direct and relevant meaning. “Song for Duke” by Judy Collins is one of the best “tribute songs” in my estimation, specifically because while Duke Ellington was never a significant component of my “music world”, the presentation here still created an emotional response over the loss.

My absolute favorite artist. Saw Judy in Brisbane after an absence of decades, & I cried out at the end of the performance, ” don’t leave Judy.” It was spontaneous!

Regrettably, I have never seen her live, but do have many of her recordings. That Brisbane concert clearly created some very happy memories for you. Many thanks for sharing them here.

It is a beautiful song in general but knowing it as a tribute makes it even more special.

What a beautiful song. The song has moving words and her sincerity comes through with her lovely voice. There is a soothing tone to her voice.
As always, thanks for sharing. Making my music world a little more broader, one song at a time. 🙂

That was/is a classic, but she did a nice job of “Send in the Clowns” as well. 🙂
