Melanie Safka came into my life (musically speaking) around late 1970/early 1971.  She was the ultimate “flower-child” of those times, and made it quite clear on many occasions how she disliked the manipulation aspects of the music industry. I can remember recently seeing an elderly lady bend over (with obvious effort) just to pickup a piece of garbage (food wrapper?) off the sidewalk, and then put it in a bin. So many of us would have complained about the litter and walked on by. Continue reading →
