Blogging is going to be rather erratic for probably most of this Spring and Summer. It’s just going to be a busy (by design) year!
There is a trip planned in the not too distant future and, upon my return, I have a large and complex “to do” list which includes painting the exterior of our home; refinishing our front and back porches, and a whole pile of “lesser” projects! Of course these have to be worked around the routine tasks and walking Ray … not forgetting the inevitable age related appointments etc., and dare I mention my current regular commitments! I think I had more free time when I was working full time … but I am not complaining.
I have a few health issues, but all are under control with medications, and I am fully functioning with 72 years old legs, arms, feet and hands! The reality is that anything can change without much notice so this year is going to be a demanding one physically by design. Who knows what could change between now and next year?
It is interesting because, at my age, I am very much aware of the privilege of waking up in the morning!ย My old car had to go (it was a 2001 model), and I now have a nice new one with a baffling display of electronics! It crossed my mind that if this one lasts as long as its predecessor (same make and model) then, statistically, it is likely to outlive me! The last time this house was painted was just over 20 years ago, so ifย my paint job this year is as good as that one …. it will almost certainly be the last time that I paint the exterior of this house.
I am hoping to be able to maintain the Saturday music posts, mainly because they are pretty easy to pull together, but other Posts?
Those of you who are Followers will obviously be advised as/when a Post is published. For those of you who are not Followers and just drop by periodically … a solution would be to click that Follow buttonย and then you need do nothing more than check your email … which I am guessing you do regularly anyway.
Finally, a reminder to anybody who likes to read true life stories where a dog is the star – “Who Said I was up for Adoption?” covers the emotional roller-coaster ride of the first 18 months of living with our beloved Ray!
“Just Thinking” is a book of easy to understand poetry about life, and can be picked up and an item read whenever convenient. … the rest can be saved for later. It might be really good as a coffee table book as the cover will offer a tranquil setting for your guests while they wait for their tea or coffee and, who knows, they might even pick it up and be provoked into conversation.
“The Odessa Chronicles” is a collection of fictional stories suitable for children from age 4 to 104! If you know a child, or can admit to still having a child within, then this is the book for you. It is quite simply just fun to read.
Please click the book covers in the column to the right (may have to scroll) for more information. In the meantime, I have some work to do.
I’m noticing blogging is slowing down for everybody. I am anticipating the same for me…that things are going to get busy and I may not be able to post as much but trying to maintain the Sunday posts, although they are not so easy to pull together. But I want to always be advocating for animals. I might be moving this summer/fall so things could get crazy. I pray for continued good health for you. I so enjoy your posts!

One must always keep one’s life in a healthy perspective and, while blogging can be fun and new relationships made, there is still a life that has other responsibilities, challenges and dreams. A balance, and occasional adjustments, must be made. All the best with your potential move. They’re golden opportunities for new adventures! ๐

Thank you so much! Hopefully everything will fall in place. We’ll see. And you’re so right about balance.

Sales of “The Odessa Chronicles” is slow but steady (I understand that is typical of self-published books that have no large advertising/promotion budget!). We are currently at 68 sales (14 eBooks; 43 paperbacks and 11 hard covers). As an aside … “Who Said I was up for Adoption?” is currently at 106 sales, while “Just Thinking” is at 20.
Facebook Messenger? No. I really don’t like the FB scene. I do have a couple of FB accounts (plus Twitter), but they are solely to reach more people re my books. Nice hearing from you again Chris. ๐

Hi there. I’m 67 myself so I appreciate your position, Colin. You may (or may not) have noticed that I haven’t posted via wordpress for a good few months. This is because I’m heavily involved with the Scottish YES movement on Facebook. I do miss it though so I shall try to get going again.
Also, we’re currently renting a bungalow in the country with a really big garden so that takes up a fair block of time as well. All the best. Chris.

Hi Chris. I totally understand and, in fact, if I had oodles of time to spend on social media … I would be concerned about what I was doing (or not doing) with my time! ๐

Since I am two years older than you, I can’t guarantee this, but I will enjoy posts whenever you get back. haha

Enjoy your summer when you are vacationing or working. I love summer. It has less restrictions than winter.

Summer certainly has so much to offer … but Winter? It does provide an incentive for those inside projects! ๐

Sounds to me like you have a life. But I believe there’s no such thing as boredom, for anyone willing to stay active. Have a nice spring and summer. See you in the fall.

Totally agree. If somebody says that they are bored, I would suggest that perhaps they are simply a boring person! ๐

LOL! I agree with that thought . ๐

Sounds like you have quite the summer adventure ahead. I have a feeling you won’t get bored! ๐ Do you even know the meaning of that word? LOL!
I think your summer plans may call for a lot of long, cool drink breaks in between your work. You can relax with Ray in the shade. Stay healthy, for you still have a long ways to go to reach 100!
Glad to hear that you will keep your music posts going, and look forward to any other posts you may have time for. ๐

Well good luck with this year Colin, I hope all goes well. I follow you anyway so your Saturday music posts will pop up in my mail. If you do have five minutes here or there do let us know how and Ray and the family are doing. Wishing you all well ๐๐๐

Will keep you “posted” Willow. Our Humane Society has a metal recycling bin which helps offset their operating costs, and I have trained our neighbor to give me their metal rather than put it in the garbage. The other day they gave me an old bicycle for the recycling bin however, I also rebuild bicycles and donate them to our local Salvation Army store. Starting on that project in about an hour! That is typically how my days go .. a little erratic, but always rewarding ๐
