Hi Mithai – Yes he is a great model…and free! Well not exactly free, as he lives with us but contributes nothing financial to his upkeep, but we love him dearly regardless! ๐
Again I haven’t read your book yet, to know the whole story, but animals usually love me, everyone always says that. I feel they can sense how much I love them. I assume, from your comment, he is a one person or family dog?
Ray’s background is unknown as he was picked up as a stray, but he was very wary of people and did not like to be touched. If he was approached without any regard for canine instincts, then he would lunge and bark at the person to make them back off… and it was very effective! Typical of both Shepherds and Rottis, he is distrusting of most people when he first meets them but will warmup to most of them after a few meetings (and treats)! I am pretty sure that we are the only ones who he will let hug him, and he is extremely protective of us! ๐
Typical of those breeds of dogs, but do you think it also has to do with the fact that he was a stray? Who knows what experiences he encountered from humans.
I’m so glad he trusts and loves you guys.
Based on the condition of his teeth when he was picked up in November 2012, he was estimated at 2 years old. We adopted him in Mar 2013, so will be celebrating his 6th birthday this coming November!
Ray loves to have his picture taken. My first schnauzer, Freda, would actually pout if we were taking pictures and didn’t take one of her. A quick shot and all was well again.
A very photogenic guy!! ๐

It certainly does and he knows it. You should see his face when he wants something really badly!

Undoubtedly his previous life impacted him, but we can only speculate as to what that might have entailed.

People say my cat is spoiled, I always say “well-cared for” and all animals deserve that! ๐

Hi Amy. I’m not sure that he actually loves it, but he has no objections… and there’s always the possibility of treats! ๐

Not bad for a scraggy, unkempt, high anxiety, reactive, anti-social and unpredictable dog of long ago! ๐
