We had a new store open near us this past summer and Ray immediately liked them. It had nothing to do with the staff, nor did it have anything to with the business that they were in, but it had everything to do with the water bowl they put outside for any passing dogs! What they had was a large upturned water bottle (reservoir) which maintained a level of water in a bowl below. Continue reading

The Visitors.
A few weeks ago I had a meeting planned here, with two people who Ray had never met before, and was trying to work out how best to handle this with both Ray’s and their interests in mind.

Friend for Ray?
We recently decided to drive Ray to a park on the edge of Lake Ontario and the plan was to walk him along the lakeside trails however, we had just turned out of our street and were near Ray’s local park when we noticed a dog (Collie X) wandering aimlessly around. We stopped and looked for somebody who could conceivably be the owner, but there wasn’t anybody in sight. Continue reading
Peace ….. perfect peace!
Anybody who has had children can probably appreciate those moments of quiet reflection. Continue reading
Pepperoni Slices!
Just around the corner to us is Fantastico Pizza. Being so close, and making such delicious pizzas, we must exercise considerable self-control in order to avoid the consequences of over indulgence! While we can rationalize this quite logically, it seems a pretty hopeless task trying to get Ray to understand. Continue reading
Runner Ray!
One long term goal, that I thought would be nice, was to have Ray as a running buddy. He was considered a “high energy” dog but his performance to date has been quite the opposite, and his claim to fame is more based on his ability to simply chill rather than any athletic performance! However, I do know that he is capable of running pretty fast, albeit for short periods of time, so getting him running would not appear to be a major challenge. Continue reading
Ewwwwwwwww! (Part 2)
Carol had a brilliant solution! Put my right hand into a spare poop bag, and then insert that into the mitt! This would keep my hands warm while protecting the mitt lining. Continue reading
Ewwwwwwwww!
If you are squeamish when reading about the less pleasant attributes of dog poop, then continue at your own risk! Continue reading
BEWARE – SCULPTURES!
A very long time ago, we had 2 cats (Friday & Robinson) and wanted to introduce a rabbit (Brewster Bun) to the “family”. We were advised to simply roll Brewster Bun in the cats’ litter tray and all should be well……….. and it was! Apparently the cats did not care what he looked like as long as he smelled right and, once he had been accepted, he could go back to smelling like a rabbit. Continue reading
Biscuit Power!
I rarely use ATM machines. This is simply because, regardless of how convenient they are, I have yet to find one that smiles and says “Good morning! How are you today? How may I help you?” and, in this world of on-line living, I still put a high value on personal contact. There is so much to be understood from body language and voice inflections that are lacking in an on-line dialogue. Continue reading
