Dear Diary – Page 55c (Early 1960’s – London)

On another bike ride (quite a bit before my Lake district ride), the plan was to ride to London; tour the loco sheds and major railway stations of all four British Railways Regions, and then ride onto Clacton (Essex) where Dad now had the caravan as he was working at the Pier Theatre during the week and over the summer holidays season. Ray – The Book update 9

Below is yet another sneak peak into his book: Continue reading

Big Foot?

Ray has never shown a particularly delicate side of himself as he moves around. Being my first dog, and at just under 80lbs, I didn’t know whether it was even a possibility. I have watched him charge around the garden mutilating whatever happened to be in his way. I have seen him almost successfully jump up onto a large rock, but after a few seconds of wavering… fall off! Continue reading

Is Ray spoiled?

We feel pretty confident that many people would say that Ray is spoiled. Continue reading

Dog Motivation!

We were recently forecast  a mixture of snow, rain, and freezing rain. Fortunately, and at the time of writing this, our trees only had a thin coating of ice so we were not expecting any problems with falling tree limbs. Dear Diary – Page 55b (Early 1960’s – Lake District)

I cycled from Keswick to Penrith before the enormity of crossing the Pennines hit me. Continue reading

Dear Diary – Page 55a (Early 1960’s -The Lake District)

My bike riding mileage was intentionally steadily increasing, for no other reason than I just wanted go further and further afield! My early rides were around 30 miles, but it was not too long before I completed a 100 mile ride. Continue reading

The important toast!

Yesterday morning was interesting (with the whole “routines business” in mind – per earlier Posts).

Today I gave Ray his breakfast and his rutabaga and it was Carol’s intention to then take him outside. I had my toast all ready to eat so Ray, not surprisingly perceived a possible problem. He might miss out on my toast! Continue reading

Routines!

Dogs are very routine driven. Learning that, with Ray as the example, came as a bit of a surprise to me … but why? We humans are also highly routine driven! Continue reading
